Arriving in a similar fashion to Abloh’s University Blue Air Force 1 release during the opening of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago and the Yellow “Lemonade” pair as from his exhibit at ICA Boston, this too sports a one-color construct complete with silver swooshes and white lettering.

The upper of the silhouette comes constructed out of leather material, with the tonal gray hue taking up most of the upper. The gray leather uppers contrast with the stitched-on metallic foil colors. The metallic silver foil is affixed upon the swoosh logos on both the medial and lateral sides.

The sneakers are marked with sarcastic lines from Off-White and Abloh’s signature zip ties in white and monochrome gray. A zip-tie tag, “SHOELACES” text above the laces, a tongue tag that has been moved, exposed stitching, “Nike Air” embroidery at the back, and other details complete the raw construction shoe.

White laces and inner linings provide another color into the mix over the design, and lastly, the black Abloh zip-tie is added over the “AIR” quotations on the midsoles. The red tags that are highlighted on the bottom of the swoosh logos are the only variation from the sneakers’ monochrome color schemes.

Abloh’s collaboration with the brand began in 2017 with “The Ten” collection, a partnership that produced some of the most coveted sneakers of all time. In that release, Abloh deconstructed 10 Nike sneaker models, quite literally. His hands-on creative process includes using Sharpies, zip ties, and X-Acto knives. He described the end result to Nike News by saying “what we’re talking about here is larger than sneakers, it’s larger than design culture. It’s nothing short of state-of-the-art design. These 10 shoes have broken barriers in performance and style. To me, they are on the same level as a sculpture of David or the Mona Lisa. You can debate it all you want, but they mean something. And, that’s what’s important.”
